The Valley of Flowers opens its doors to tourists: Excitement surges in Chamoli,
with nature lovers from across the country and abroad arriving on the first day.
Chamoli (Uttarakhand). The long wait for nature lovers and trekkers is over. The world-famous Valley of Flowers National Park, located in Chamoli district, has officially opened for tourists today. The opening of the doors of this UNESCO World Heritage Site has sparked immense excitement among local tourism businesses and the local administration.
Senior Forest Department officials, staff, and outpost in-charge Amandeep Singh were present at the special opening of the valley. They welcomed the first tourists entering the valley and wished them a safe journey.
Like every year, the valley opened to tourists in the first week of June. The valley will remain open until the end of October or until the onset of snowfall. According to Forest Department officials, the arrival of monsoon marks the true bloom of flowers in the valley, peaking in September. During this period, hundreds of rare species of flowers, such as Brahma Kamal, Blue Poppy, and Cobra Lily, bloom in colorful blooms, making the entire valley appear like a natural carpet.
The climb begins from Ghangaria Base Camp. To reach the Valley of Flowers, tourists must first complete a 13-kilometer trek from the main route, Govindghat, to reach Base Camp Ghangaria. The main entrance to the valley is located approximately 3 kilometers from Ghangaria. Due to safety and environmental protection regulations, tourists will only be allowed in the valley during the daytime. All visitors must return to Base Camp Ghangaria before sunset. The administration has implemented strict security and sanitation measures along the trek.
